RESEARCH GROUP
After spending several years in academia, healthcare administration, and business creation, I partnered will clinical psychologist, Dr. Patricia Henrie-Barrus, to establish the Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Educational & Research Program. The program is committed to both research and clinical work to aid the development, testing, and implementation of integrative ketamine treatment, which bridges the mind, body, and brain. Here, I actively serve as the co-founding program director and co-principal investigator for two pilot feasibility studies, as well as mentor six undergraduate / graduate students in research methods.
WHY KETAMINE?
To me, ketamine is the ultimate Pandora's Box. There is so little we know about the drug from its mechanism of action to its psychological properties to its clinical effect across patient populations as well as how ethically market and deliver it.
Apart from ketamine's incredible role as a fast-acting antidepressant, I am intrigued by its pro-cognitive powers and potential for treating neurodegenerative disorders (i.e., dementia). Can ketamine help slow down the progression from early cognitive decline to late Alzheimer's disease? Can it optimize brain function in both neurologically compromised and healthy individuals? These are areas that I am actively investigating.
